My name is Dave Howarth. I live in Leyland near Preston and am a drum teacher and have over 40 years of professional experience in both teaching and playing. I regularly teach at my teaching studio in Leyland, but also Preston, Chorley, Bolton and Wigan.
I started playing drums from the age of 10 years after having piano lessons for 3 years. I studied from the Buddy Rich Rudiments book with a local Big band drummer in Bolton and started playing in a professional capacity at the age of 14.
Over the years I have played literally thousands of gigs including Rock Bands, Brass Bands, Caberet and Dance Bands, Jazz Big Bands and Worship Bands. I have now been teaching for over 30 years. I also made many appearances at the prestigious Wigan International Jazz Festival, playing Big Band Jazz.
I was a WFD(Worlds Fastest Drummer) finalist in 2005 at the NAMM show in Anaheim, L.A. (see me at www.worldsfastestdrummer.com).
I can teach Rock Jazz, Brush Techniques, Latin Brass Band and Orchestral. I also teach twin-bass, Metal, pop styles and worship. I teach all styles with particular emphasis on technique , reading and musicianship.
If you really want to improve on the drums I can teach you the correct way to practice so that you do not waste hours practising the wrong things and getting nowhere. I have taught students for up to 10 years and have had much success in teaching.
